Use craft lace braiding tool

The possibilities are endless. I encourage you to keep experimenting- there are many more techniques and styles than the ones I have covered here. I loved making boondoggles when I was a kid. The biggest that I ever made was 6x6. That took a lot of plastic and time.

Thanks for sharing your skills with the rest of us! Plastic lacing in your favorite colors Here I am using the two strand method, I chose two different colors to make it easy to tell them apart Any accessories for the finished product clasp or keyring Scissors optional Hot glue or lighter to permanently seal the finished product.

Start by finding the center of each lace. Thread the accessory onto both laces until it is in the middle of the lengths of lacing. Cross the laces in an X at their center point, under the accessory. Both laces should be laying flat, one over the other. Repeat step 4, tucking the laces over the loose ends and under the loops, the same as before. Keep 'spinning' the laces the same direction each time to create the spiral shape.

Did you make this project? Share it with us! Work this round clockwise. Fold the right lace to the left, the bottom lace up, and the left lace over the bottom lace and through the loop of the top lace. Always start with the top lace.

Work one round counter-clockwise, and the next round clockwise. This method only requires you to pass through one loop instead of two. Pull the laces tight after each round. Hold the lace close to the braid when you tighten it to avoid breaking.

Flip both ends of the yellow over. Keep the prior stitches tight at all times. Figure 6 See the bends? That's what you aim for. Remember to go over the first lace and under the second. That locks the stitch tight. Figure 7 Continue until either the project is as long as you want or there is only about three inches of lacing left.

The ending can be a bit tricky. To make an end like the project above, make the last stitch loose. Notice that the center forms a small square. Take each end in turn starting with the shortest. Wrap it around the next lace of the opposite color and then poke it up through the center of the small square. When you have done this to all ends, pull them all tight - one at a time. Go over pulling them tight several times to make sure all slick it out.

If at first you don't succeed in making the end, just undo it and try again.
